A Timeline Of My VFX Homework

Join me in my journey while I'm taking a few courses to learn new skills. I've been a Photoshop and Illustrator user since 2005. I cut out objects on a daily basis and then turn them into sexy collages (that's my job).

It has been a great challenge to take my static designer's skills into something that's moving. Going from static to motion.

The new software & skills I'm learning right now include Adobe After Effects, NUKE and Cinema 4D. What I'm trying to learn is Rotoscoping, Keying, Tracking, VFX, Particles, Mocha and buliding 3D abstract shapes.

What I'll be sharing with you here will be videos of my learning process, correcting my instructors' tiny mistakes and after all - doing my homework. Let's get rocked!

C4D - 3D Shape Animation

3D Abstract shape created & animated with CINEMA 4D. The golden lines layer shader was delivered as a pre-made preset, but I decided to create one of my own. The result was maybe not as brilliant as my instructor's but, on the other hand, I got better understanding of how that works.

CINEMA 4D - 3D Abstract Shape

3D shape made with CINEMA 4D. Animating the light glows and the background wasn't part of the homework, but I decided to do it just for fun. Color grading and animation was done in After Effects.

The Mafiozos - Title sequence

The final result from my "Rainy Scene" homework.

Fixing shadows

Another one where my homework was to create a rainy sceene. Here I'm fixing the shadows of the falling pictures. You can't cast a shadow while the object is still high up in the air. That was not part of the instructions but I decided to do it for a more realistic look of the scene.

Rotoscoping a leg

This was part of my tasks from an After Effects Basics course on Udemy. Unlike working with static raster images, cuting out objects that move seems to work better when done in several different parts.

...so, here's a leg.
